Rich in antioxidants
Za’atar spice blends are typically made from a combination of herbs, spices and seeds such as thyme, oregano, sumac, sesame seeds and salt. These ingredients are all rich in antioxidants. These are compounds that protect the body from damage caused by harmful molecules called free radicals. Antioxidants are associated with a lower risk of chronic diseases such as heart disease, cancer and neurodegenerative diseases.
Some of the herbs and spices used in Za’atar, such as thyme and oregano, have anti-inflammatory properties. Chronic inflammation is thought to contribute to the development of various diseases, including heart disease, diabetes and certain cancers. By incorporating za’atar croutons into your diet, you may be able to reduce inflammation in the body, thereby improving overall health.
Strengthens the immune system
Several ingredients in za’atar, such as thyme and sumac, have immune-boosting properties. These components can help strengthen the immune system and fight off infections and diseases more effectively. Including za’atar croutons in your meals can further boost your immune system and help maintain your overall well-being.
Gut health benefits
The Za’atar spice blend often contains herbs such as thyme, which is traditionally used to aid digestion. Thyme contains compounds that can aid digestion and promote a healthy gut. By incorporating za’atar croutons into your diet, you can experience improved digestion and a healthier gut microbiome.
Improves brain function
Some studies suggest that certain ingredients in za’atar, such as thyme, may have cognitive-enhancing effects. Thyme contains compounds that have been shown to improve memory and concentration and may benefit brain health. Adding za’atar croutons to your meals can help support optimal brain function.
From its antioxidant-rich properties to its potential to boost the immune system and improve brain function, za’atar croutons offer a range of health benefits.
