Not only is this filling a delicious and flavorful option, but it also comes with several health benefits that make it a great choice for your next meal. Let’s take a closer look at the nutritional benefits of this delicious combination.
1. Rich in Omega-3 fatty acids
Smoked trout is an excellent source of omega-3 fatty acids. These essential fats are known for their numerous health benefits, including reducing inflammation, supporting heart health, and promoting brain function. Including smoked trout in your diet can help increase your intake of omega-3 fatty acids, which are often missing from many modern diets.
2. Immune-boosting horseradish
Horseradish sauce gives the vol-au-vent filling a flavor kick while also providing certain health benefits. Horseradish is rich in antioxidants that protect your cells from free radical damage. Additionally, it contains compounds that have been shown to have antimicrobial properties and help boost your immune system and fight off infections.
3. Nutrient-rich asparagus
Adding asparagus to this filling not only adds to its flavor and texture, but also brings a variety of nutrients to the table. Asparagus is a low-calorie vegetable that is rich in vitamins such as vitamin K, vitamin C and folic acid. In addition, it contains fiber, which supports digestion and helps maintain a healthy weight.
4. Source of protein and calcium
Both smoked trout and crème fraîche are excellent sources of protein. Protein is essential for various body functions, including tissue repair, hormone production and enzyme synthesis. Additionally, it helps you feel full and satisfied after a meal. Additionally, this filling provides a good amount of calcium, which is crucial for strong bones and teeth.
5. Lemon juice and dill – antioxidant powerhouses
Using lemon juice and dill in this recipe not only enhances the flavor but also increases the nutritional value. Lemon juice is a rich source of vitamin C, a powerful antioxidant that boosts your immune system and protects against oxidative stress. Dill, on the other hand, contains various antioxidants and may have anti-inflammatory properties.
