  • 140g porridge
  • 25g ground almonds
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 50g butter
  • 1 heaped teaspoon of honey
  • 800g apples (I usually use eating apples), peeled, cored and roughly chopped
  • Zest and juice 1 large orange
  • 10 cardamom pods
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar

Preparation steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C/160°C fan/gas 4.
  2. Place oats, almonds, sesame seeds and cinnamon in a large mixing bowl.
  3. Melt the butter with honey in a small pan.
  4. Stir the melted butter and honey into the oats until they resemble coarse breadcrumbs – you may need to use your hands.
  5. Place apples, orange peel and juice and cardamom in a pan.
  6. Cook for 10 minutes until tender.
  7. Take out the cardamom pods.
  8. Pour the apple mixture into a baking dish.
  9. Sprinkle with sugar.
  10. Sprinkle the streusel mixture over the apples.
  11. Bake until golden brown and crispy, about 40 minutes.
  12. Serve with vanilla yogurt, ice cream or vanilla sauce.
