Ingredients

  • Butter for greasing
  • 400g self-raising flour
  • 150g golden powdered sugar
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • ½ tsp spice mixture
  • ¼ tsp vanilla extract

  8. Cut the dough into either 12 or 24 pieces.
  9. Place a large pot of water on the stove and bring to the boil.
  10. Roll each piece of dough into a sausage shape.
  11. Tie the dough into a knot, twist or braid it before dipping it into the boiling water.
  12. Leave in the boiling water for a few seconds.
  13. If the dough rises to the top, scoop it out with a slotted spoon.
  14. Shake off excess water and place the mixture on the prepared tray.
  15. Repeat the process with the remaining dough.
  16. Bake the dumplings for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
  17. Allow them to cool on the tray before transferring to a plate or board.
  18. If necessary, dust with powdered sugar before serving.
