  • 500g pack of bread mix
  • 8 sausages
  • 2 x 420g cans of baked beans
  • 140g cheddar, grated
  • 1 egg, beaten


Freezing tip
Thaw in the refrigerator overnight
or for 4-5 hours at room temperature. Warm up
Bake in the hot oven for 10 minutes until piping hot.

Preparation steps

  1. Prepare the bread mixture according to package directions.
  2. While the dough is rising, prepare the filling.
  3. Skin the sausages and form the meat into small meatballs, about 6-8 per sausage.
  4. Heat a large deep frying pan and brown the sausages. You may need to do this in batches.
  5. Once everything is brown, return to the pan and add the beans.
  6. Mix everything together and then let it cool a little while you roll out the dough.
  7. Preheat oven to 200°C/180°C fan/gas 6.
  8. Grease 2 or 3 large, flat baking sheets.
  9. Divide the dough into 12 parts and roll each dough into a circle about 17cm in diameter.
  10. Cover the remaining dough balls with oiled cling film or a damp tea towel.
  11. Fill each circle one at a time with a scoop of bean mixture and some grated cheese.
  12. Fold in half and press firmly to seal.
  13. Pinch the edges together and then place on an oiled baking sheet.
  14. While you prepare the rest, cover it with oiled cling film.
  15. Brush with a little beaten egg and cook for 15-20 minutes until golden brown and risen.
  16. Remove and let cool slightly on a cake rack.
  17. Eat warm or at room temperature.
  18. If you want to freeze the pies, let them cool completely and freeze in a single layer on a flat, well-covered tray.
  19. Once frozen, transfer to a freezer bag and seal tightly.
