  • 450g sausage meat
  • 50g fresh white breadcrumbs
  • 1 teaspoon thyme or rosemary leaves, chopped
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 500g cardboard passata
  • 2 tbsp dried tomato paste
  • 300g fusilli or other pasta shapes
  • ½ small savoy cabbage, cut into 1 cm wide slices
  • 250 g ball mozzarella, diced
  • 2 tbsp freshly grated Parmesan

Preparation steps

  1. Place the sausage meat, breadcrumbs and thyme or rosemary in a bowl and mix. Form 20 small balls.
  2. Heat the oil in a wide pan and fry the sausage balls for 10 minutes until they are nicely browned. Add the passata and tomato paste, cover and simmer gently for 20 minutes.
  3. Meanwhile, cook the pasta according to package instructions, adding the cabbage for the last 5 minutes of cooking time. Drain the cabbage and pasta, mix with the sauce and place in a heatproof bowl.
  4. Preheat the oven to 200°C/180°C fan/gas. 6. Slide the mozzarella cubes on top of the pasta. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and bake for 15-20 minutes until bubbly and crispy.
