Health Benefits of Plum Crumble

The delicious combination of ripe cooked plums, aromatic spices and a crunchy streusel topping make plum streusel not only a delicious dessert, but also a healthy choice. Packed with antioxidants, fiber and essential nutrients, this delicious treat offers a range of health benefits.

Antioxidant-rich plums

The main ingredient of plum crumble is the juicy and aromatic plums, which are known for their high antioxidant content. Antioxidants help protect our cells from damage caused by harmful free radicals, reducing the risk of chronic diseases such as heart disease, cancer and inflammation.

Fiber for healthy digestion

The plum crumble has a considerable amount of fiber thanks to the plums and the crumble topping. Fiber plays a crucial role in maintaining a healthy digestive system by promoting regular bowel movements, preventing constipation and helping with weight control. A high-fiber diet is also associated with a lower risk of heart disease and type 2 diabetes.

Essential nutrients and vitamin C

Prunes are a great source of essential nutrients such as potassium, vitamin K and vitamin C. Potassium is important for maintaining a healthy heart rhythm and strong muscles, while vitamin K is essential for proper blood clotting. Vitamin C, on the other hand, is known for its immune-boosting properties and its ability to promote healthy skin.

Almonds for healthy fats

The ground almonds used in the streusel topping give the plum streusel a wonderfully nutty taste and provide healthy fats. These healthy fats, including monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats, have positive effects on heart health, lower cholesterol and reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease.

Overall, enjoying a serving of plum crumble not only satisfies your sweet tooth, but also provides your body with important nutrients, antioxidants and fiber. So, enjoy this delicious dessert!
