The Health Benefits of Pesto and Olive Crusted Fish
In addition to being a delicious and flavorful dish, olive-crusted pesto and fish also offers a number of health benefits. This recipe combines the goodness of green pesto, lemon zest, green olives and fresh breadcrumbs with white fish fillets like cod or haddock. Let’s take a closer look at the health benefits of these ingredients:
Green pesto is primarily made from fresh basil leaves, pine nuts, parmesan cheese, garlic, and olive oil. Basil is rich in antioxidants and has anti-inflammatory properties. They are also an excellent source of vitamins A, K and C. Pine nuts provide essential fatty acids such as omega-3 and omega-6, which have positive effects on heart health. Olive oil is a healthy monounsaturated fat that can reduce inflammation and reduce the risk of heart disease.
The finely grated zest of a lemon gives the dish a hint of citrus flavor. Lemon peel is known for its high content of vitamin C, which acts as an antioxidant and supports a healthy immune system. It also contains flavonoids, which have anti-inflammatory properties and may help protect against certain chronic diseases.
Green olives not only provide a tangy and salty taste, but also offer several health benefits. They are a good source of monounsaturated fats, which have been linked to reduced inflammation and improved heart health. Olives are also full of antioxidants, which help fight free radicals and protect against oxidative stress.
Fresh breadcrumbs provide a crispy and flavorful crust in this recipe. Using fresh breadcrumbs instead of packaged breadcrumbs provides greater nutritional value. Breadcrumbs can be a good source of fiber, which aids digestion and helps maintain regular bowel movements.
White fish fillets
The recipe recommends using white fish fillets such as cod or haddock. White fish is low in fat and calories but high in protein. It is also a good source of essential nutrients such as vitamin B12, selenium and phosphorus. Regular consumption of fish has been linked to various health benefits, including improved brain function and a lower risk of heart disease.
This pesto and olive-crusted fish recipe not only satisfies your taste buds but also provides a range of health-promoting nutrients. So, enjoy this tasty and nutritious dish!
