Health Benefits of “Nachodums”

When it comes to appetizers or snacks, “Nachodums” are a delicious and flavorful choice. Made from a combination of nachos and poppadoms, these crispy bites not only provide a satisfying crunch, but also numerous health benefits. Let’s explore the nutritional value of the ingredients used in making nachodums.

Tomatoes are a rich source of vitamin C, potassium and antioxidants. They are known for their ability to boost the immune system, promote healthy skin and support heart health. Additionally, tomatoes contain lycopene, a powerful antioxidant that may reduce the risk of certain cancers.

Red onion

Red onions not only add a spicy taste to nachodums but also provide various health benefits. They are a good source of fiber, vitamins C and B6 and antioxidants. Red onions have anti-inflammatory properties and may help lower blood sugar levels and reduce the risk of heart disease.

Red chilli

Red chili peppers add spice and a touch of heat to nachodums. They contain capsaicin, a compound known for its pain-relieving and anti-inflammatory properties. Capsaicin can also boost metabolism, aid digestion, and help reduce food cravings, thereby having a positive effect on weight control.

vegetable oil

Using vegetable oil in cooking nachodums provides a source of healthy fats. It contains unsaturated fats, such as monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats, which when consumed in moderation can help lower cholesterol and reduce the risk of heart disease.

Paneer, a type of Indian cheese, is a good source of protein and calcium. Protein is essential for building and repairing tissue, while calcium is necessary for maintaining strong bones and teeth. The inclusion of paneer in nachodums ensures a creamy texture along with these nutritional benefits.

Natural yoghurt

Plain yogurt contains a good dose of probiotics, beneficial bacteria that support gut health. Probiotics can improve digestion, strengthen the immune system and promote a healthy balance of intestinal flora. In addition, yogurt is a good source of protein and calcium.

Cucumber not only adds a refreshing crunch but also contributes to the overall health benefits of nachodums. Cucumbers are low in calories and have a high water content, which makes them hydrating and beneficial for weight control. They also provide vitamins K and C and antioxidants.

Mint leaves give nachodums a refreshing and aromatic taste. Mint is known for its digestive properties and can help with indigestion and nausea. Additionally, mint contains antioxidants that can protect against oxidative stress and promote oral health.

Poppadoms add a crunchy touch to nachodums and are usually made from lentil or chickpea flour. These flours are gluten-free and provide a good amount of fiber and plant-based protein. Poppadoms are also low in calories and fat, making them a healthier choice compared to traditional tortilla chips.

Mango chutney

A small amount of mango chutney adds a touch of sweetness and spice to nachodums. Mangoes are rich in vitamins A and C, which are important for immune function and skin health. However, mango chutney should be consumed in moderation due to its sugar content.

To sum up, nachodums not only delight your taste buds but also provide several health benefits. From the nutrient-dense tomatoes and red onions to the protein-rich paneer and fiber-rich papadums, this appetizer offers a balanced combination of flavors and nutrients. So why not enjoy a plate of nachodums without feeling guilty?
