- half a cucumber
- 500g cup of Greek yogurt
- a handful of fresh mint leaves
- 2 handfuls of fresh coriander
- 4 large naan breads
- olive oil, for brushing
- ground paprika powder for sprinkling
- Sea salt flakes for sprinkling
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
Good food know-how
Salt removes moisture from the vegetables, so don’t add it too early or the raita and chutney mixtures will be too wet.
- Up to a day in advance, roughly grate the cucumber into a bowl, then squeeze it with your hands to remove as much juice as possible.
- In a food processor, combine yogurt, mint, and cilantro until well blended. Place in a bowl and stir in the cucumber. Cover with cling film and refrigerate until serving.
- To serve, preheat the oven to 200°C/gas 6/fan 180°C. Cut the naan into long triangles and arrange on 2 large baking sheets. Brush one side with oil and sprinkle with a little paprika and salt. Bake for 8-10 minutes until crispy and golden brown.
- Season the raita with up to 1 teaspoon of salt (see tip) and lemon juice.
- Serve on a platter with fresh tomato chutney and dips.

Health Benefits of Naan Dippers with Fresh Mint and Coriander Raita
Naan dippers with fresh mint and coriander raita are not only a delicious, flavorful snack but also offer several health benefits. Let’s explore some of the reasons why you should indulge in this tasty dish:
1. Little fat
The Greek yogurt used in Raita is low in fat, making it a healthier alternative to traditional dips. By replacing high-fat options with Greek yogurt, you can reduce your overall fat intake without compromising on taste.
2. Good source of protein
Greek yogurt is also an excellent source of protein. It provides essential amino acids necessary for muscle repair, muscle growth and overall health. Incorporating protein-rich foods into your diet can help you feel fuller for longer and support healthy weight management.
3. Moisturizing cucumber
The inclusion of cucumber in the raita adds a refreshing touch to the dish. Cucumbers have a high water content, provide moisture and promote healthy skin. They are also rich in vitamins and minerals, including vitamin K, vitamin C and potassium.
4. Antioxidant-rich herbs
The fresh mint leaves and coriander used in the raita not only enhance the taste but also provide numerous health benefits. Mint is known for its digestive properties and can help relieve stomach discomfort. Cilantro, on the other hand, is a great source of antioxidants, which protect the body from free radicals and support overall health.
5. Whole wheat naan
The naan bread used as a ladle can be made from whole wheat flour, which provides more fiber and important nutrients compared to refined white flour. Whole grains have positive effects on digestive health, weight management, and reducing the risk of chronic diseases.
6. Benefits of Olive Oil
Brushing the naan bread with olive oil before baking adds a touch of healthy fat to the dish. Olive oil is rich in monounsaturated fats, which are known to support heart health and reduce inflammation in the body.
7. Nutrient boost from lemon juice
The addition of lemon juice in the raita not only provides a tangy taste but also provides a dose of vitamin C. Vitamin C is an essential nutrient that supports the immune system and promotes collagen synthesis for healthy skin.
When you enjoy naan dippers with fresh mint and coriander raita, you can tantalize your taste buds while reaping the numerous health benefits that the ingredients offer. Whether as a snack or a party appetizer, this dish is a flavorful and nutritious choice.
