  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 kg lean ground beef
  • 2 slices of bacon, chopped
  • 2 onions, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves of garlic, finely chopped
  • 150 ml red wine
  • 500 ml beef broth (one cube is enough)
  • Leaves from 3 sprigs of thyme

Preparation steps


  1. Heat the olive oil in a non-stick frying pan.
  2. Once hot, add the minced meat and cook for 10 minutes until browned all over. Break up any lumps with the back of a spoon. Tip onto a plate. You may need to do this in batches.
  3. Add the bacon to the pan along with the onions and garlic, then cook for 7 minutes, until the bacon is cooked through and the onions are soft.
  4. Put the minced meat back in the pan and then pour in the red wine, stock and thyme leaves.
  5. Bring to the boil and then simmer for 30 minutes until the minced meat is soft and the sauce has reduced.
  6. Once cooled, it can be frozen for up to 3 months.
