Ingredients
- 2 large sweet potatoes, cut into wedges
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil, plus a little more
- 1 tbsp sesame seeds
- 1 tbsp miso paste
- Juice 1 lemon
- 1 tbsp hot chili sauce (Sriracha is delicious)
- 1 tbsp mirin
- 2 bavette or other lean steaks (about 200 g each)
- large handful of watercress leaves for serving
Preparation steps
- Preheat oven to 200°C/180°C fan/gas 6.
- Place the potato wedges on a baking tray and rub with the oil.
- Sprinkle the sesame seeds and some spices on top.
- Bake for 25 minutes or until edges are crispy.
- In a small bowl, combine miso, lemon juice, chili sauce and mirin.
- Rub the steaks with a little oil and some spices.
- Pour 1 tablespoon of sauce over each steak and rub both sides.
- Heat a grill pan until really hot and sear the steaks for two minutes on each side, or longer if you prefer them well done.
- After turning, spread more sauce over it.
- Transfer to a plate, cover loosely with foil and let rest for 5 minutes.
- Serve the steaks sliced with extra sauce, the potatoes and the watercress.
