The Health Benefits of Mini Chicken Pies
When it comes to delicious and filling snacks, mini chicken pot pies are a popular choice. Not only do they taste great, but they also offer numerous health benefits. Let’s take a closer look at the ingredients that make up these delicious treats and the nutritional benefits they offer.
The base of the mini chicken pies consists of a 500g pack of shortcrust pastry. Although pastries are not typically considered a healthy food, eating them in moderation can still provide some benefits. The pastry provides carbohydrates, which are a primary source of energy for the body. It also contains small amounts of protein, fiber and various vitamins and minerals.
Using 2 cooked chicken breasts, shredded mini chicken patties are a great source of lean protein. Chicken breast is low in fat and calories but high in protein, making it an excellent choice for anyone looking to maintain or gain muscle mass. Protein is essential for repairing and building tissue, promoting healthy skin, hair and nails, and supporting a strong immune system.
Adding 85g of peas, whether fresh or frozen, to mini chicken pot pies brings numerous health benefits. Peas are a good source of fiber, which aids digestion and promotes bowel movement regularity. They are also rich in vitamins A, C and K as well as various B vitamins. In addition, peas provide important minerals such as iron and manganese, which are necessary for optimal body functions.
The mini chicken pies also include half a bunch of asparagus, cleaned and cut into bite-sized pieces. Asparagus is a nutrient-dense vegetable that is low in calories and rich in essential vitamins and minerals. It is particularly rich in folate, which is crucial for cell growth and development, especially during pregnancy. Asparagus also contains antioxidants that protect the body from free radicals.
With 100 g of crème fraîche, mini chicken pies have a creamy and delicious consistency. Although crème fraîche has a higher fat content compared to some other dairy products, it offers a unique taste and a dose of calcium that is essential for healthy bones and teeth. Moderation is key when consuming high-fat dairy products to maintain a balanced diet.
A beaten egg is used to glaze mini chicken pies, giving them a golden and appetizing look. Eggs are a fantastic source of high-quality protein and provide all nine essential amino acids. They also contain essential vitamins and minerals such as vitamin D, vitamin B12 and selenium, all of which support various body functions.
By carefully selecting and combining these ingredients, mini chicken pot pies offer a range of health benefits. From protein-packed chicken breasts to fiber-rich peas and nutrient-dense asparagus, these delicious patties can be a nutritious and filling snack option.
