Ingredients
- 2 onion bagels
- Butter for brushing
- American mustard – we like French mustard
- Dill pickles
- a handful of torn iceberg lettuce leaves
- 120g pack of pastrami (cured beef brisket)
Preparation steps
- Divide the bagels and spread the cut sides with butter and a little mustard.
- Separate the pastrami slices.
- Place the pastrami slices between the bagels.
- Place the bagels on a sheet of double-thick paper towels on a microwave-safe plate. The paper prevents the bread from getting soggy on the bottom and sticking to the plate.
- Heat the bagels in the microwave at 750 watts for 1 minute.
- While the bagels are warming, slice the dill pickles lengthwise.
- Remove the bagels from the microwave and lift the lid.
- Add the lettuce and sliced cucumbers.
- Sprinkle some more mustard on top.
- Enjoy the hot pastrami bagels immediately while they are still warm.

Health Benefits of Hot Pastrami Bagels
If you’re looking for a hearty and delicious meal with lots of flavor, hot pastrami bagels are an excellent choice. Not only are they incredibly filling, but they also offer several health benefits that make them a guilt-free treat.
1. Good source of protein
Hot Pastrami Bagels are loaded with protein from the pastrami itself. This cured beef brisket provides a significant amount of high-quality protein, essential for cell repair, muscle growth and overall health. Including protein-rich foods in your diet can also help you feel fuller for longer, thus helping with weight control.
2. Essential vitamins and minerals
Pastrami contains various vitamins and minerals that have a positive effect on your general well-being. In particular, it provides iron, zinc and vitamin B12, which are essential for maintaining healthy blood cells, supporting the immune system and promoting proper nerve function.
3. Rich in fiber
Adding shredded iceberg lettuce leaves to your hot pastrami bagel adds additional nutritional value to the dish. Iceberg lettuce is low in calories but high in fiber, which aids digestion, promotes intestinal activity and contributes to a healthy gut. Fiber also helps you feel full after a meal and prevents you from overeating.
4. Crispy dill pickles
No hot pastrami bagel is complete without the addition of crunchy dill pickles. These spicy treats not only improve the flavor profile but also provide health benefits. Pickled cucumbers are low in calories and fat and contain probiotics that support healthy intestinal flora, aid digestion and strengthen immune function.
5. Low saturated fat content
When made with whole-wheat bagels and a little butter for brushing, hot pastrami bagels can be an alternative to other fast food options with less saturated fat. By choosing this healthier option, you can enjoy a delicious meal while keeping your saturated fat intake under control. Remember to choose your spreads and ingredients wisely to ensure a balanced diet.
Hot pastrami bagels are not only delicious, but they also offer a number of health benefits. From protein and essential vitamins to fiber and low saturated fat, these bagels can be a suitable choice for anyone looking for a filling meal without compromising their well-being.
