  • 6 tbsp (50 g) porridge

Preparation steps

  1. For the apple topping: Poach apples in a covered pan with raisins and orange juice for 8-10 minutes until apples are soft.
  2. Mash some apple to thicken the juice.
  3. Can be made in advance and refrigerated for up to a week.
  4. Serve warm or cold on the porridge with sunflower seeds.
  5. For the porridge: Pour 400 ml of water into a small non-stick pan and stir in the porridge.
  6. Cook over low heat until bubbly and thickened.
  7. (To prepare in the microwave, use a deep container to prevent spills as the mixture will rise as it cooks, and cook on high for 3 minutes.)

The health benefits of creamy yogurt porridge with apple and raisin compote

When it comes to starting the day healthy, there’s nothing better than a nutritious and delicious breakfast. And what better way to do this than with a bowl of creamy yoghurt porridge, garnished with a delicious apple and raisin compote? Aside from being a delicious treat for your taste buds, this dish also offers a plethora of health benefits that will leave you feeling satisfied and energized throughout the day.

Strengthened immunity

One of the most important health benefits of this creamy yogurt porridge is its probiotic content. The 0% fat probiotic natural yogurt used in this recipe is packed with live, beneficial bacteria that can boost your immune system. These friendly bacteria promote a healthy gut by restoring and maintaining balanced intestinal flora, which plays a crucial role in overall immunity. A strong immune system is your body’s first defense against common illnesses and infections.

Improved digestion

In addition to its probiotic content, the creamy yogurt in this porridge is also a great source of calcium. This mineral is essential for maintaining a healthy digestive system. Calcium plays an important role in muscle contractions, including in the digestive tract. Eating calcium-rich foods like yogurt can help regulate bowel movements and prevent digestive problems like constipation. So, enjoying a bowl of this creamy yogurt porridge can keep your digestive system in check.

heart health

Incorporating apples and raisins into the compote not only adds natural sweetness, but also provides a number of heart-healthy benefits. Apples are high in fiber, particularly a soluble fiber called pectin. Soluble fiber has been linked to lowering high cholesterol because it helps prevent cholesterol from being absorbed into the bloodstream. Raisins, on the other hand, are rich in polyphenols, which are known for their antioxidant properties. These antioxidants help prevent damage to blood vessels and reduce the risk of heart disease.

Energy and satiety

The combination of oatmeal and sunflower seeds in this recipe provides a wonderful crunch and provides sustainable energy. Porridge is a great source of complex carbohydrates that digest slowly and release energy consistently throughout the morning. This helps maintain stable blood sugar levels and keeps you feeling energized for longer. Sunflower seeds, on the other hand, are full of healthy fats, proteins and fiber. These nutrients promote feelings of fullness and satiety, preventing overeating and unnecessary snacking.

So next time you’re thinking about a healthy and delicious breakfast, treat yourself to a bowl of creamy yogurt porridge with apple and raisin compote. Not only will it tantalize your taste buds, but it will also provide you with a range of health benefits to help you start your day right.
