Health Benefits of Roly-Poly Bread & Butter Pud
While Roly Poly Bread and Butter Pudding is a delicious dessert, it contains some ingredients that offer potential health benefits. Let’s take a closer look:
Although butter is high in saturated fat, consumption in moderation can provide valuable nutrients. Butter contains vitamins A, D, E and K, fat-soluble vitamins that are essential for various body functions. It also contains conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), a type of fatty acid that may have health benefits including anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer properties.
2. Raspberry jam
Raspberry jam gives this dessert a special flavor and also has some health benefits. Raspberries are packed with antioxidants, including vitamin C and quercetin, which may help reduce inflammation and protect against chronic disease. They are also a good source of fiber, which aids digestion and promotes a healthy weight.
3. Fresh, uncut loaf of white bread
Although bread is often criticized for its high carbohydrate content, it does have nutritional value. Whole wheat white bread made from refined flour provides some important nutrients such as iron and B vitamins. In addition, the carbohydrates in bread provide the body with energy and, in appropriate portions, can be part of a balanced diet.
Eggs are an excellent source of high-quality protein and rich in various vitamins and minerals. They contain essential amino acids necessary for building and repairing tissue, helping to maintain muscle mass and supporting overall growth and development.
5. Double cream and milk
Double cream and milk contribute to the smooth and creamy consistency of the pudding. Although they are high in saturated fat, they also provide important nutrients such as calcium and vitamin D. Calcium is important for strong bones and teeth and vitamin D aids absorption.
6. Powdered sugar
Although powdered sugar is high in calories, it adds sweetness to the dish. It is important to consume sugar in moderation as excessive consumption can lead to various health problems. However, it can be enjoyed in small quantities as part of a balanced diet.
7. Vanilla paste or seeds
Adding vanilla paste or seeds enhances the flavor of the pudding. Vanilla is known for its antioxidant properties and can help reduce inflammation in the body. It also contains small amounts of minerals such as calcium, magnesium and potassium.
All in all, while the fudgy bread and butter pud is a delicious and indulgent treat, it’s best enjoyed in moderation. By incorporating the above ingredients, this dessert also offers some potential health benefits in addition to its delicious taste.
