- 350g self-raising flour
- 1 teaspoon Baking powder
- 2 tsp English mustard powder
- ¼ teaspoon ground cayenne pepper or paprika, plus extra for sprinkling

- 50g cold, unsalted butter, cut into cubes
- 175g Cheddar cheese, grated
- 175 ml semi-skimmed milk, plus a little milk for brushing
