  • 5 tablespoons cream or cream, more for serving if desired
  • ¼ tsp freshly grated nutmeg or to taste

Preparation steps

  3. Cook very, very gently for 15 minutes, until soft, translucent and light golden
  4. Remove cloves
  5. Add milk and pepper
  6. Simmer gently for 10 minutes
  7. Stir in breadcrumbs
  8. Bake for another 5 minutes over very low heat until the bread is nice and plump
  9. Stir in cream and nutmeg
  10. Fish out the stems from the thyme
  11. Season to taste
  12. Grate a little more nutmeg over it to serve
  13. Drizzle with a little more cream
  14. Decorate with a bay leaf
