  • 400g lean ground beef
  • 3 cloves of garlic, crushed
  • 1 tbsp powdered sugar
  • 1 tbsp dried Italian herb mix
  • 690 ml jar of passata with onions and garlic
  • 350g penne
  • 200 ml can of semi-skimmed crème fraîche
  • 25g Parmesan, grated
  • Garlic bread and salad to serve

Preparation steps

  1. Heat the grill to the highest level.
  2. In a large, non-stick frying pan, fry the minced meat until brown.
  3. Add garlic, sugar and herbs and cook for 1 minute more.
  4. Pour over the passata, season and then simmer while the pasta cooks (see package instructions).
  5. In the meantime, mix together the crème fraîche and parmesan.
  6. Place half of the minced meat in an ovenproof dish.
  7. Mix the rest with the noodles and pour over it.
  8. Drizzle the Parmesan cream over the top and grill until golden brown and bubbling.
  9. Serve with salad and garlic bread.
