1. Rich in vitamins and minerals

The combination of rhubarb and apples in this cake contributes to its high vitamin and mineral content. Rhubarb is an excellent source of vitamins C and K, which play a crucial role in maintaining a healthy immune system and promoting proper blood clotting. Apples, on the other hand, provide a good amount of vitamin C and fiber. Additionally, both fruits contain minerals such as potassium, which are essential for maintaining heart health and proper muscle function.

2. Antioxidant powerhouse

The zest of an orange used in this tart provides a hint of citrus flavor and an abundance of antioxidants. Oranges are known for their high vitamin C content, which acts as an antioxidant and protects your cells from damage caused by harmful free radicals. Antioxidants play an important role in reducing the risk of chronic diseases such as heart disease and certain types of cancer.

3. Support Digestive Health

Another health benefit of this cake is the intake of fiber from rhubarb and apples. Fiber is essential for maintaining a healthy digestive system and preventing constipation. It adds bulk to your stool, making it easier for waste to pass through your intestines. Consuming an adequate amount of fiber also promotes satiety, which can be helpful in weight control.

4. Nutritious vanilla pudding

The creamy and velvety custard used in this cake consists of double cream, milk, eggs, sugar, vanilla and orange zest. Even though vanilla pudding is considered a treat, it still offers some nutritional value. Eggs are an excellent source of protein, vitamins D and B12, and minerals such as selenium and choline. The addition of milk and cream provides calcium, which is essential for bone strength and overall skeletal health. Vanilla provides a pleasant aroma and taste, and the peel of an orange, along with additional antioxidants, provides a lemony note.
